SHADWELL captain Joe Eddison believes their surprise victory over Church Fenton last week has sent shockwaves throughout the Wetherby League top flight.
He believed their home advantage was the key in Saturday’s success and is hoping for more of the same tomorrow when they welcome Andy Twitchen’s WETHERBY (1.30pm).
On Saturday, Shad’ could only muster 116 all out but a fine spell of bowling in reply by the home side skittled the defending champions for just 51.
“I think that result surprised one or two people,” said Eddison.
“But I was always confident if we played to our ability we could get something out of the game.
“Playing at home for us is a big advantage. It’s not a great wicket but we know how to play it and that proved the key on Saturday.”
Eddison is now looking forward to tomorrow’s clash and expecting an interesting tussle against the division’s new boys.
“We haven’t played Wetherby for something like two years so I don’t really know what to expect,” added Eddison.
“But if we play anything like we did last week and play to our potential we’re confident of getting something out of the game.”
Meanwhile Adam Walton’s CHURCH FENTON will look to bounce back at home to KIRK DEIGHTON, in-form SPOFFORTH welcome Kippax, SICKLINGHALL travel to Great Preston and SCARCROFT welcome Oulton.
