Runners take part in Run For All

THE annual Jane Tomlinson 'Run For All' charity fundraising race on Sunday was the opportunity for four Wetherby Runners to target another 10K road race.
Amongst 11,000 others in warm and crowded conditions Mark Young was first from the club to finish in 121st place with a time of 42.22.

Alison Mallorie-Lewis finished in 54.45, Jacky Darley 57.03 and Diane Hill 1.01.59.

On the same day four othe
rs were attempting the second running of the 10 mile road and trail race, the 'Staveley Stampede'.

In the field of 156, Chris Plews took the club honours in eighth place in 1.03.53, Steve Close 22nd in 1.10.18, Laura Marks 34th with a Personal Best of 1.14.03 and also first Over 40 lady while Dawn Wheatley was 79th in 1.24.34.

In the Humber Half Marathon, John Simpson was 415th in 1 hour 49 mins and 41 secs.

The penultimate Harrogate & District Race League meeting took place last Thursday with a challenging 5.4 mile road and trail race at Richmond.

In the field of 221 runners Wetherby put in a good attendance which paid off with some excellent individual and team results on the night. The first 10 to cross the finish line scored a third place for Wetherby's main team, improving the cumulative team position in the League by one place up to fourth.

The Ladies team was second and the Lady Veterans team took first place on the night as well as squeezing out a first place cumulative score in the League.

Going into the final race next week there is all to play for both individually and teams with little daylight between the top three clubs contending in each team category.

In the first three Elite team places were Scott MacVicar 12th in 34.40, Jim Buller 25th in 35.31 and Lisa Mawer 32nd in 36.01, also first Lady over 40.

Other results: Richard Bewell 35th in 36.20, Iain Andrews 37th in 36.37, Matthew Wheeler 44th in 37.01, Rob Gray 50th in 37.31, Mark Tobin 53rd in 37.47, Richard Moon 55th in 37.50, Ian Legg 58th in 38.02, Andrew Wheeler 66th in 38.35, Steve Close 80th in 39.57, Mike Miller 87th in 40.23, Anne Homa 112th in 42.05, Laura Marks 114th in 42.12, Garry Keenan 125th in 42.44, Ian Smith 136th in 43.25, Ann Dale 144th in 44.28, Andrea Normington 159th in 45.46, Debra Wheeler 166th in 46.53, Jacky Darley 189th in 51.20 and Michelle Cheung 205th in 55.25.

The previous weekend the club entered both Men's and Ladies teams in the Great Knaresborough bed race.

Over the slightly adjusted course, the Men's team improved their time slightly on the previous year with a time of 15 mins 45 secs and a 16th place finish.

The ladies dropped a few seconds, coming in at 19 mins 7 secs for 51st place over all and sixth Ladies bed to finish.
