GREAT performances on the pitch can be found all the way through the Arrow Ready Drive Nidderdale Junior League, but three in particular stood out during June.
And for Studley Royal’s Joshua Crewe, Birstwith’s James Ward and Follifoot’s Alex Fox, their displays netted them a www.harrogateadvertiser.net Player of the Month award.
Birstwith U-9s captain James Ward takes the U-9s U-11s Pairs award, having scooped four wickets in three games at an average of six runs per wicket.
He also scored 51 runs and his manager Paul Townsend paid tribute to his hard work.
“The most notable performance was in the game versus Studley Royal where in the final over of the game he was bowling to try and save a game,” said Paul.
“After three balls the score was tied, he then took two wickets and a dot ball to win Birstwith the game, proving it’s never over until the last ball in pairs cricket.”
Studley Royal’s Joshua Crewe is the winner of the U-11s/U-13s 11-a-side award, with a batting average of 70 for the month and bowling figures of four wickets for 54 runs.
He also took two catches and captains Studley Royal B.
Committing so much time to cricket each week is a test for any youngster but Joshua is taking it in his stride.
“I’m enjoying the season,” he said.
Finally Alex Fox of Follifoot takes the U-15s/U-17s award after a great month for the U-15s.
He made 35 not out, 33, 38 not out and 13, took five wickets, and claimed his first senior 50 against Steeton by making 71 not out.
