KIRK Deighton manager Dan Marshall has demanded a reaction from his troops tomorrow to banish Saturday's 4-0 defeat to title rivals Spa Athletic.
Deighton were brought down to earth with a bump, losing their unbeaten run to the new campaign and now their boss is looking for a response when they begin their jaunt in the County Cup tomorrow.

Marshall’s men will welcome Storthes Hall to Barr F
ield (2pm) with their boss eager to build on last season’s succesful run in the competition when they reached the quarter-final of the trophy.

“We know it’s going to be difficult to go on the run we did last season,” said Marshall.

“It will be like the equivalent of a non-league team winning the FA Cup. To be honest we need to concentrate on the league that should be our bread and butter.

“This is an important game on Saturday but we’ve also got two really important games coming up in the league.

“They’re going to be must win games after what happened on Saturday.

“I wasn’t there but my assistant told me we just didn’t turn up on the day, there was no fight and we got what we deserved.

“I’m now looking for a reaction this week.”

On Saturday Marshall returned from a trip to New York to hear the shock scoreline against a strong Spa outfit.

The home side were dominant from the start and richly deserved the three points according to Marshall.

“It was disappointing because we wanted to gain some ground on Thirsk,” added Marshall.

Meanwhile BRAMHAM are also in County Cup action tomorrow when they travel to Featherstone Colliery.

On Saturday they lost a eight goal thriller against Burley, eventually slipping to a 5-3 defeat.
