LONG Marston Cricket Club has announced a home fixture against an Old England XI team, the only time the ex-internationals will play competitively together this summer.
The game scheduled for Sunday, July 27 will see the cricket club welcome well known former test-stars such as Derek Randall, Arnie Sidebottom and captain John Lever.

The England squad will also contain Clive Radley, Joey Benjamin, Neal Radford, Ma
rtin McCague, Monte Lynch, Roger Tolchard, Geoff Humpage, John Hardy and Jim Love.

Club chairman Bob Procter is looking forward to the momentous day and expects a capacity crowd to witness the event.

“There’s no doubt about it, with Derek Randall playing he’s certainly going to fill the ground,” he said.

“Everyone will know John Lever and he’ll be captaining the side. One or two people will be interested to see Joey Benjamin bowling too.

“There’s also Arnie Sidebottom and I’m sure he’ll attract people too especially with that name being so topical at the moment with his son Ryan doing so well for England.”

The Long Marston side will also be strong with one or two star names both from the Wetherby League top flight and a few more surprise players to be confirmed.

Limited tickets for the event are available for only £5 each and are available from Bob Procter on 07740 620 696 or email cricketbp@googlemail.com.

Alternatively, contact Simon Lewis on 07961 322 613, Alan Gott on 01904 738 549 or by post from 87, The Village, Haxby York, YO32 2JE.

All cheques should be made payable to Long Marston Cricket Club.
