Tadcaster Grammar students are set to wow audiences with a ground breaking musical.

Zombie Prom is set in the Nuclear Fifties and its theme is described as like Grease meets Rocky Horror Show meets the Walking Dead.

It’s just another day at Enrico Fermi High School, which is named after the man who invented the atomic bomb.

Rebellious teen Jonny falls for Toffee but her parents and school friends disapprove.

Toffee dumps Jonny and – distraught – he leaps into the local nuclear power plant with disastrous consequences.

“There are plenty of laughs and catchy tunes in this ‘girl loves ghoul’ rock and roll musical set in a 1950s comic book sci-fi world,” said Claire Duckworth, drama teacher and director of this year’s school musical.

“The cast is having a ball at rehearsals and it may not be as well-known as Grease or the Rocky Horror Picture Show but Zombie Prom has some wonderful songs and our audiences won’t be disappointed,” she added.

With a cast of nearly 50 students, rehearsals are well underway for the performance dates on March 18, 19 and 20 at 7pm.

Tickets are available from the Main Reception desk or by phoning 01937 833466. Alternatively, they will be available on the door (adults £6, students £3).
