Gateways year 7 pupil Annabelle Fuller has finished runner-up in the Year 7 category of the National Short Story Week contest. Author and illustrator Chris Priestley judged the youngster’s story The Choice which deals with the issues of life and death and will be published as an e-book later this year.
English teacher Alison McKeefry said: “Annabelle is an impressive young writer who regularly attends our creative writing club.
“She takes her writing very seriously and is currently writing a nativity play for Key Stage 2 pupils. She is really pleased to have done so well in the competition.”
Yvonne Wilkinson, Gateways School Headmistress, said: “We are very proud of Annabelle’s achievement and look forward to seeing her work published later this year.”
