Wetherby set for seven-race meet

Wetherby stage a seven-race programme over jumps on Tuesday (February 21).

Racing starts at 1.40pm with a Handicap Hurdle contest for Conditional Jockeys.

Going into Tuesday’s meeting, Sue Smith who trains at High Eldwick near Bingley, leads the way in the competition to be the top trainer of the season at Wetherby, having accumulated 73 points, based on winners and places obtained since the start of the campaign in October, while Brian Hughes heads the jockeys’ category with 79 points.

Hughes won the competition last season and rode two winners at this meeting last year (as did Richard Johnson and the subsequent Grand National-winning jockey, Jason Maguire).

A giant screen, situated opposite the main stands, will enable racegoers to enjoy even more of the action.
