Wetherby Jubilee celebrations unveiled
WETHERBY’S Jubilee Committee has confirmed a host off attractions for the event to mark the 60th anniversary Queen’s accession to the throne this summer.
A spokesman for the group of volunteers said the opening ceremony will take place on the Town Hall steps at 10.30am on Saturday, June 2.
“This is going to be a once-in-a-lifetime event, so the committee hopes that you will all support it and make it a weekend to remember,” said a spokesman.
For the rest of the day, there will be street entertainment, a mini-tennis session at Wetherby Tennis Club, the Lions Beer Festival and a display of birds of prey in Jubilee Gardens, entertainment by the Wetherby Silver Band and Wetherby High School.
And the following day the whole of the Market Place will be closed to traffic for an open air service and then street party at midday.

On Monday, June 4, the festivities will close with a Last Night of the Proms.
