Villagers to have say on future housing plans

Views on the future of Aberford are being sought.

Aberford and District Parish Council and its Neighbourhood Development Plan Management Group have been distributing a questionnaire to over 600 households.

The survey seeks views as to what changes they would like to see or what they would not like to see happen in their area over the next 15-20 years in terms of development.

Following on from the questionnaire, on Saturday January 19, there is to be an Open Day to be held in Aberford Village Hall - between 10am and 4pm.

This will give residents the opportunity to see a number of exhibits outlining plots of land in the area which have been put forward for consideration of future development - and to make their views known.

A spokesman for the council said: “Most important, however, is that completed questionnaires are returned to the various collection points within the village (or to the village hall on the Open Day) as the views of local people are paramount to the production of a Neighbourhood Development Plan which will be formally submitted to Leeds City Council Planners for approval and publication.”

Light refreshments will be provided at the open day and there will also be entertainment for any younger visitors who come along with their parents.

MP Alec Shelbrooke, will be attending the event between 2-3pm and local Ward Councillors, Ann Castle, Rachael Procter and Matthew Robinson also hope to attend.
