Pateley Auction Sale: Gwen Umpleby informs us: "We are having a Farm Machinery, Tools and Bygone Items Sale on Tuesday, July 20 at 6pm. If the weather is nice, the ladies at our newly opened Teacups tearoom are going to offer a barbecue, and hopefully, there will be a plant stall. We have farm machinery already entered, as well as other sale items which include a stainless steel jam pan and and a mincer - perfect for making burgers! There should be plenty to see and do, so if anyone has anyt
Teacups: As mentioned, Pateley Bridge Auction Mart have recently announced the opening of their country tea-room and cake shop, called Teacups, at the Auction site. Teacups was launched last Tuesday, July 6, and will open daily (except Mondays) at 10am to serve freshly made sandwiches, lunches, high teas and a vast selection of cream cakes and slices, to eat in or take away. They will also be offering larger desserts and quiches to order for that special occasion, or just a little something for the weekend! A large function room is available, with ample free parking and disabled access, so please ring (01423) 711494 for orders or bookings.
St. Chad's Pet Service: A reminder that St. Chad's Church, Middlesmoor, will be holding a Pet Service this Sunday, July 11 at 10.30am, to which everyone is very welcome. Let's hope no one has any snakes!
Upper Nidderdale WI: The group's next meeting will be held at 7pm on July 14 at Ramsgill Village Hall, when a talk on the Bronte family by Elizabeth Stirk is on the agenda. This month's competition is Produce made from an old Yorkshire recipe. Visitors very welcome.
Upper Nidderdale Flower Club: Gardener's World was the title of last week's workshop, when members constructed various arrangements with foliage/flowers from their own gardens. Once finished, members and visitors examined each one, giving helpful critique on what is required for future competition. However, it was unanimous that all the arrangements, although individually different, were indeed beautiful!
Please note that there is a change to the August meeting. No meeting will take place on Thursday, August 5, instead a garden visit to High North Garth has been arranged for Saturday, July 31. High North Garth (next to High North Farm, adjacent to Brimham Rocks road), is the home of Sue Clough, Fellbeck. It is approximately 3/4 acre in total, and has mixed shrub borders with cottage style planting, and is situated at 900ft. on the edge of the moor! The garden is open to members and guests from 11.30am to 2pm, entrance 2, with refreshments/cakes on offer and parking available in the field alongside the property.
Pateley Methodist Flower Festival: Some flower club members are also involved in the forthcoming flower festival to be hosted by Pateley Bridge Methodist Church from 10am to 4pm on July 24-27. The theme for the festival is Towns and Cities, interpretation of which sounds intruiging, if not challenging! Included is a flower festival service on Sunday, July 25 at 10.30am, plus stalls and refreshments on all days. All proceeds will go to the church. If anyone wishes to donate cakes, etc., please ring Sue Mouser on 01423 711521.
