FORMER county cricketer Mark Lawson bowled out some top tips to young wanabees this week.

The ex Yorkshire and Derbyshire player and one of the country’s top leg spin bowlers, was a guest at Walton Junior Cricket Club as youngsters ended their intense ten-week winter coaching programme delivered by Procoach Cricket Academy.

Club spokesman Simon Dobson said: “The youngsters have all worked really hard over the winter, which should prepare them well for the coming outdoor season.

“The young players were rewarded on the final session by a visit from Procoach’s Mark Lawson as well as the usual two coaches, Dave Hester and Matt Green.”

Procoach Cricket Academy is the official coaching partner of Yorkshire CCC and ran the course along with Walton’s own ECB trained coaches.

Walton CC runs junior teams in Under-9s, 11’s, 13’s and 17’s age in the Wetherby Junior Cricket League.

“We are a friendly and progressive club and welcome new members, both boys and girls,” Simon added.

Outdoor training is being held at 6.30 to 8pm on Tuesdays until July 17, with Procoach Cricket Academy at Walton Cricket Ground.
