Three special visitors were welcomed to Tadcaster last week, forging further links with the town’s French counterpart, St Chely D’Apcher.

Tadcaster Grammar School played host to the teachers from France as part of its work in the community with the Tadcaster Twinning Association and as a requirement of its international school status.

Anne Terrisson, Sandrine Hugon and Sabine Hugon were officially welcomed to school and then spent the day with students in the classrooms, getting involved with French, English and cookery lessons.

The visit will be reciprocated when two members of staff from Tadcaster Grammar School visit St Chely D’Apcher in April to attend the renowned cookery school. They will also meet with teaching colleagues there, with a view to arranging a student exchange in 2013.

Amanda Crossley, Partnership Development Manager at Tadcaster Grammar School said: “As a community school involved with the Tadcaster Twinning Association we are planning on taking a group of food technology students to St Chely D’Apcher in 2013 to learn about French cuisine and are delighted that the link is moving in this direction. “

“It has been a long held ambition for the Association to strengthen the links between Tadcaster Grammar School and the Schools in St Chely D’Apcher,” said Jon Palmer, Vice-Chair of the twinning committee.

“The visit by the French teachers enabled us to build on relationships and make plans for future exchanges.
