Tadcaster teacher's romance novel published
A TADCASTER technology teacher has just released her very first novel.
Joanna Joslin, Head of the technology faculty at Tadcaster Grammar School, has written A Conflict of Class, a romantic thriller set in Bradford which takes readers through the trials and tribulations of a family associated with both wealth and poverty.
Joanna, who won a BBC Radio Leeds Short Story Competition and has been teaching for 29 years, said inspiration for the book, available through Amazon and Authorhouse, had actually come from within her own family
history.
"Everyone says they have a book in them, but I have taken the stories and anecdotes from my parents and grandparents and woven them into this novel, which has taken me a long time to research," she said.
"This book is dedicated to the memory of my late mother, Winifred North, who gave me the inspiration to write it.
"Grateful thanks must also go to my husband, Brian, and to my agent, Darin Jewell, for their support and encouragement," she added.
A Conflict of Class features Helen Siddall, an orphan girl who possesses beauty, intellect and youth.
She is unaware that her maternal family is one of the wealthiest in the north of England and, brought up in her paternal aunt's working class home, she struggles against the jealousy of her young cousin Harry whilst becoming attracted to her older cousin, Thomas.
Harry endeavours to destroy both her life and her relationship with Thomas as secrets from her family history conspire to produce twists and turns in the story.
