Swift backing for popular Wetherby 10k race is afoot

Wetherby Runners announced this week that they have teamed up with local company Swift Research as main sponsor for the Wetherby Run 10k.

Wetherby Runners announced this week that they have teamed up with local company Swift Research as main sponsor for the Wetherby Run 10k.

Race Director Rob Gray said it is exciting to bring Sandbeck Way-based company, which provides consumer feedback for some of the world’s largest producers, into the team alongside Moores Furniture Group, who have funded the Digital Chip Timing and the Moores Mini Marathon.

The Wetherby race, which will this year be held on September 9 at the Racecourse, has grown over recent years attracting up to 1000 entries for the 10k run and 160 for the Moores Mini Marathon.

Alison Flannery, Managing Director of Swift Research, said: “We are delighted to be supporting The Wetherby Run which has become such a major part of sporting life in the town.”

The staff have made an early start in preparing for the race and the company have taken delivery of the first batch of entry forms to distribute from their offices.

On-line entries are also available from Wetherby Runners web site at www.wetherbyrunners.co.uk and are £13 for unattached runners and £11 for club runners and is open to runners of all abilities from recreational joggers to those preparing for the autumn road races and half marathons.

With the assistance of Wetherby Lions the race is supporting, local charity The Shaun Lee Johnstone Fund which is a small umbrella group linked to the Samantha Dickinson Brain Tumour Trust and was set up by Ray Johnstone following the loss of his son in 1998 when he was just 16 years old.
