Striking up a chord or two for children’s hospice

A concert in aid of Martin House Hospice in Clifford will combine exams with pleasure.

Year 12 music BTEC students from Tadcaster Grammar School are staging a concert as part of their Level 3 qualification which will showcase their musical ability at the same time.

Hannah Meadley from Barwick-In-Elmet will combine her singing talents with the piano skills of Caitlin Gill and the drumming expertise of Liam Connolly, both from Sherburn-In-Elmet and the guitar experience of Douglas Eastbury from Biggin for the charity concert to be held in the School’s Main Hall on Friday 1 February at 7pm.

“We are organising the concert as part of our Music BTEC exam and have thoroughly enjoyed co-ordinating everything, from putting the programme together to organising letters and posters,” said Hannah.

“We are very grateful to our catering students who will be serving refreshments during the interval,” she added.

“We really hope as many people as possible will support us in aid of our chosen charity.”

Also taking part in TadFest is Alistair Souch from York playing the trumpet and Matthew Hirst from Harrogate on piano.

Tickets are available from Main Reception on 01937 833466, priced at £5 for adults, £3 for concessions and a family ticket (two adults and two children) at £10.
