Stockeld Park opens its doors

One of Wetherby’s most unique attractions will reopen its doors to the public this month.

Stockeld Park, in Wetherby, which grows half a million Christmas trees at its 2,000-acre estate - will be opening to the public for the sixth year running on October 24 - with newly improved facilities.

The site - which has been owned by Peter and Susie Grant and their family for the last 150 years, has undergone a major reinvestment for the 2012 season after feedback from visitors last year.

Holly Dannhauser, Marketing and PR manager for the estate , told the Wetherby News tourism events at Stockeld Park for Halloween and Christmas have grown rapidly in the last five years.

Last year saw more than 100,000 people visit the estate in just 12 weeks, with an increase of around 20 per every year. For 2012, the park will be presenting brand new toilet facilities, an extended café and expanded shop and gift store.

Owner Peter Grant told the News: “The number of visitors to Stockeld Park in the last five years has been remarkable and we’re delighted that the activities and events have been so well received.”

“But we have to listen to what our customers say about their whole experience here and act upon it, in this case, it’s resulted in a huge level of investment in our site’s infrastructure.”

The investment shows how dedicated we are to creating a magical experience and how much we value customer feedback.” The estate has also grown to be a major employer in the area, giving skills and experience to young people in the local community, he added.
