The entire Leeds Rhinos squad made a festive trip to put a smile on the face of poorly youngsters this Christmas.
Christmas spirit was well and truly alive as the rugby league team visited Martin House Children’s Hospice on Friday, December 21.
The squad, which included players Jamie Peacock and Danny McGuire, brought Christmas gifts and chatted to the children and teenagers at the Clifford-based hospice.
Jonny Wainhouse, of the Leeds Rugby Foundation, who organised the visit, said: “As usual the guys were excellent.
“They spent time talking to the kids there and giving out the gifts and I know their presence was appreciated by the staff and parents alike.
“Martin House does an incredible job and we are delighted to be able to help them out this Christmas.”
The Leeds Rugby Foundation, who arranged the event, also covered the cost of the Christmas presents, he added.
Martin House Hospice cares for children and young people with terminal illnesses and provides support to their families.
This year the hospice celebrated its 25th anniversary since it opened and the 10th Anniversary of the opening of teenage unit Whitby Lodge.
The event was a double-delight for youngsters at the hospice, who were also treated to a visit from Santa who arrived via helicopter at the hospice earlier in the month.
Martin House Children’s Hospice needs to raise £4.5 m annually to run the service it provides and care for youngsters from across the Yorkshire region.
