Reunited 90s pop act Steps to play Harewood

POP band Steps have this week been announced as the latest act to perform as part of supermarket chain Morrisons’ first ever live music festival this summer.

M Fest, sponsored by Morrisons, will take place on July 7 and 8 at Harewood House and will feature comedy, children’s entertainment and sport as well as music.

Pop phenomenon, Steps, who recently reformed after a decade-long break, are among several acts announced to play the event, alongside chart toppers Bob Geldof and Texas.

Yorkshire bands Human League and Heaven 17, both from Sheffield, will also be performing at the event. Tickets are available from.themfest.com or by calling 0844 888 9991.

Meanwhile, Harewood House, which was in the running to play host to the Radio Two Car Fest North, hosted by radio DJ Chris Evans, lost out to Cholmondeley Castle in Cheshire.

Mike Schafer, chief executive of Harewood House Trust, said: “We really enjoyed having Chris and the team at Harewood and we’ve certainly built a relationship for the future.

“Yes, we enjoyed the potential of this great charity event here at Harewood, but unfortunately we were pipped at the post by Cholmondeley Castle. However our motoring enthusiasts already have two great car events to look forward to this summer; the Father’s Day Classic Car Rally and Yorkshire Post Motor Show on June 17, and then on August 18 and 19 the biggest VW Festival in the North.”
