Youngsters proved they could rise to the occasion when they took part in a Bake Off Master Class at Harewood-based Gateways School.
Year 5 and 6 pupils from local primary schools, including Harewood and Moorlands in Leeds, took part in the session led by Cathie Reuben of Stir Krazy Kids Cookery Club.
Headteacher Dr Tracy Johnson said: “The Bake Off Master Class was a huge success.
“The children demonstrated a great deal of creativity in their baking and decorating and they thoroughly enjoyed the day. We are always delighted to welcome children from nearby schools into Gateways.”
The children began by watching a bread making demonstration and then made their own loaves of either olive bread or pumpkin seed bread.
This was followed by making a sponge cake and six cupcakes and then some cheese and onion chutney scones.
After lunch the children decorated their cake and cupcakes on an underwater theme.
The cakes were then judged by Cathie Reuben, Sara Holmes Subject Leader of Food Technology at Gateways and Headmistress Dr Tracy Johnson with the winner receiving a bowl, spoon and rolling pin and a voucher to a Stir Krazy workshop.
