NYCC heads to Tockwith to view controversial waste plant site

NORTH Yorkshire Planning Committee will visit Tockwith on Tuesday next week to view for themselves the site of a proposed waste treatment plant to incinerate landfill.

But Tockwith villagers, who are vehemently opposed to BCB Environmental's plans for the gasification plant - which, if approved, would be one of the first of its kind to treat waste in the UK, are planning a protest outside BCB's facilities on the Marston Moor Business Park.

A Tockwith Residents' Association spokesman said: "It is vital we leave them in no doubt that we do not want an incinerator in Tockwith.

"We need as many people as possible to come down to the business park

and protest. Please bring a placard or banner and be there for 9:30am"
