Knaresborough Camera Club:

THIS week saw the latest engagement in a long running "battle" against our friends, Axminster Camera Club. The weapons of choice being a selection of 20 images from each side. These are accessed by independent judges at each club. In theory, the judges do not know which image is from which club but of course, on occasion the subject can give the game away.

Each judge awards a mark out of 20 to each image, and the scores are totalled to give a winning club. As well as some friendly competition, this also gives the members of both clubs the opportunity to see the work of other photographers, as well as receive feedback and tips from the judge.

For this, the first leg of this year’s contest, the judge who stepped in was well known Knaresborough photographer Phil Tennant who cast a professional eye over the wide variety of images presented by the two clubs, giving constructive criticism without fear or favour.

As a result of Phil's deliberations, at the halfway point Knaresborough are in the lead, by 275 points to 244, but this is a game of two halves, and still all to play for.

Knaresborough Camera Club's exhibition of work at Henshaw’s Artsand Crafts Centre, 50, Bond End, Knaresborough continues until the end of February.

The Centre, with licensed caf, is open Monday to Saturday, 10am till 4pm. Call 01423 541888 or see the website at www.henshaws.org.uk/arts-and-crafts-centre/
