Jobs boost at restaurant
Up to 20 new jobs are to be created in Wetherby with the opening of the fourth restaurant in the Bengal Brasseries chain in the region.
Co-owner Dobir Malik said months of refurbishment have been invested in the former Fennel restaurant site at Victoria Court to cater for 100 covers on two levels and which will employ 15 to 20 staff.
“We are extremely proud to contribute to the local economy and community with the opening of our latest restaurant,” added Mr Malik.
“We hope local residents will see the restaurant as a sociable meeting place.
“Whereas we expect that most people who visit will be from the Wetherby area, we also hope that its location near the A1 will mean that it will attract people to Wetherby perhaps for the first time.”
The restaurant and takeawy will open on February 20 and will offer Bangladeshi cuisine with many original dishes developed by Head Chef Mohan Miah.
Mr Malik opened his first restaurant in Leeds in 1989 and has pioneered creativity in Asian cuisine in all his restaurants since then.
Modern, stylish interiors are a characteristic of all Bengal Brasseries.
Co-owner Shayasta Miah is hugely experienced in the restaurant sector too. In 2005 he opened Rice in Oakwood, Leeds which serves 300-400 diners every week.
He also owns Chilli Pepper in Earby in Lancashire.
Bengal Brasseries has restaurants in York, Poppleton and Headingley.
