On Sunday a Wetherby man will take part in a tandem skydive to raise money for Make-A-Wish Foundation UK.

In talking about his jump James said: “I’ve done many exciting things in my life including snowboarding, go-karting and bungee jumping, however I never thought that I would ever undertake a parachute jump.”

He added: “Given that it is all aid of such a good cause, and with some degree of coercion from colleagues, I agreed that it was something that I should tick off the proverbial list of life experiences, although I think when I’m looking out of the door of the plane I may not be so enthusiastic!”

The skydive will be taking place at Hinton Airfield, Oxfordshire, and James is part of a team of 14 NFU Mutual colleagues from all across the country taking part.

To prepare for the jump he will be trained with an instructor and then split into a group with his colleagues to participate in the dive.

He will jump from around two miles up in the sky, freefalling for around 45 seconds and reaching speeds of up to 120 miles per hour, before floating back down to earth.

James would like to raise at least £325 from his skydive, and has set up a Just Giving page for his donations: www.justgiving.com/skydive-2012
