Horse racing community put on theft alert

Members of the horse racing community have been put on alert by police.

Detectives in North Yorkshire are continuing to investigate what is believed to have been a plan to steal or rob from members of the horse racing community.

Three men who were arrested last week as part of the investigation have now been released on bail to allow for further police enquiries.

A spokesman for North Yorkshire Police said: “Officers are continuing to carry patrols in the areas used by members of the racing industry.

“We are also asking people to remain vigilant and to contact the police straight away if they see any suspicious behaviour.”

Anyone with information about suspicious activity should contact North Yorkshire Police on 101.

Information can also be passed anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. Always dial 999 in an emergency.

Police would not divulge further information at this stage of their enquiries.
