Glittering prom to wish leavers good luck
WETHERBY's Ramada Jarvis hotel played host to a glittering Wetherby High School Year 11 prom last Friday.
A large group of parents, friends and members of staff assembled outside to observe the spectacular arrivals of the stunningly dressed students.
The teenagers enjoyed a welcome fruit punch while onlookers gathered in the lounge area to watch the prom procession in which the students made their way into the function suite in pairs.
Many said they felt like film stars arriving for a premiere as the crowd cheered each couple and camera flashes went off by the dozen.
A buffet feast followed the procession before the students danced the night away.
A popular attraction on the night was the professional photo studio which saw queues of students line up to pose in their smart suits and beautiful dresses.
Event organiser and Wetherby High School teacher Peter Muddiman said: “It was a wonderful, sophisticated occasion and our students looked amazing.
“The staff at the Wetherby Ramada looked after us really well and I feel that this event proudly flew the flag for both the hotel and for Wetherby High School.
“We look forward to seeing the students again on GCSE results day – August 21 – and feel delighted that almost two-thirds of the year group have chosen to continue their education into the sixth form at Wetherby High.”
