Perk–u–up: There will be a Perk-u-up coffee morning at Summerbridge Methodist Church tomorrow, Saturday June 27, between 10.30am-12. Everyone is welcome to call in for some refreshment and a chat. Jazz in the Garden: Over 200 people enjoyed the Open Garden event held on Sunday, June 14 at Yorke House, Dacre Banks in aid of Harrogate and District Society for the Blind. The gardens, which are also open under The National Gardens Scheme on Sunday, 28 June, have been developed by owners Pat and Tony Hutchinson and are situated overlooking a beautiful part of Nidderdale. As well as the two acres of lovely gardens and water features the visitors enjoyed teas and cakes served on the extensive lawns, a craft stall selling items made by the visually impaired, a raffle and tombola. Live music was played by Bob Mason’s Swingtime Jazz trio and visitors could be seen relaxing on the lawns in the sunshine and listening to the gentle sounds played by the Swingtime Jazz group. The chairman of the Society, Brian Rushton, commented that the day had been enjoyed by everyone and the Society had successfully raised around 1400.

Picture Quiz: Test your knowledge of Nidderdale. Join a fun evening at our lovely village Community Centre helping to raise funds to help maintain and improve the facilities at the Centre. We are having a Picture Quiz followed by Pie and Pea Supper at on July 4 at 7.30pm at Christ Church Community Centre Darley. Bring your friends and family. Fun Day: 5th July at Dacre and Hartwith Playing Fields. Only a few weeks to go. Have you commenced your preparations? Wheelbarrow Racing, get in training for races for all ages. Tailwaggers: Bring your dog and enter into the fun events e.g. 'best looker', the biggest tailwagger, the quickest over obstacles, etc etc. Car boot sale from 12.30pm. Vehicles to be on site by 12.00pm. Spring clean the loft and garage, or even the garden.

Blubberhouses Duck Derby: Dacre Braithwaite School are fund raising for their playing field at Blubberhouses Duck Derby and Country Fair. Sunday, July 12 gates open 12.30pm 4,000 ducks released down the River Washburn at 3pm. Family fun, games, pony rides, teas, ices, barbecue, bar.

Kettlesing Felliscliffe CP School: The school is holding a fund raising event at the school on Sunday, June 28 at 11am - 2pm. Hand Car Wash from 5. Cake Stall and Tombola. All proceeds to school.

Dacre Banks Cricket Club: Tomorrow, Saturday, June 27, Dacre Banks second 11 will be playing at home to West Tanfield. Junior coaching has started at Dacre and Hartwith playing field, 6.30 – 7.30pm with ECB qualified coaches. Old and new juniors are welcome.

Darley Open Gardens: Darley in Bloom present Darley’s Day of Art & Gardens on Sunday, June 28. Admission to the gardens will be by programme (4) available at the Memorial Hall from 11am (last admission 4.30pm). There will be eight gardens on view, all very different, offering solutions or inspiration to many of your gardening problems. Also at the Memorial Hall, there will be an Art Exhibition featuring the work of the Pateley Bridge Art Club and a Plant Sale (free admission to both). Throughout the day, fresh food will be available at the Memorial Hall so why not come along and make a Darley Day of it!

Yorke House Open Garden and Cream Teas: Tony and Pat Hutchinson will be opening their beautiful garden at Yorke House, Dacre Banks, in aid of the National Gardens Scheme charities on Sunday, June 28 from 11am-5pm. Visitors are invited to enjoy the plantings and relax in the tranquillity of the setting. Cream teas will be available and visitors may also use the picnic area in the orchard. Most of the garden is accessible to disabled visitors. Dogs are accepted on a lead. The entrance in the centre of Dacre Banks on the B6451 Otley to Pateley Bridge road leads to on-site car parking. Mobile Library Coffee Morning: On Friday, July 3 when the mobile library visits Christ Church Community Centre there will also be a coffee morning and chiropody clinic 11am-noon.
