Business brisk as pupils receive prizes from leading companies
AS one of their final projects at primary school, year six pupils from a Young Enterprise Group at Meadowside Primary School in Knaresborough set up businesses to raise money for charity.
The youngsters made cakes and bookmarks, grew plants and flowers and also held a school raffle.
The group worked hard to contact local and national businesses for donations of raffle prizes which included a Williams F1 wheel nut with authentication certificate and other merchandise, two signed Rory McIlroy Titelist baseball caps with authentication email, an Ipod nano, a one night stay at The Crab and Lobster, a cut and blow dry at Kelly Teggins hair salon, family day passes to Chester Zoo, Treasure Island, Flamingo Land, Newby Hall and Mother Shipton’s Cave, World Cup merchandise, games and toys from WHSmith, pen and ink writing set, Bojangles hair products, a round of golf for two at Knaresborough Golf Club and vouchers for the Republic clothing store.
All the money went to the pupils’ chosen charity, Cancer Research which they picked because one of the group’s relatives had been diagnosed with cancer.
