Boston Spa School gains top business award

Boston Spa School has become the first in Yorkshire to gain accreditation status in meeting national standards in how to develop young people’s employability.

The school, which has more than 1,400 pupils, has become one the first schools in the country to become formally recognised as “Business Ready.”

The award status helps students at the school develop the skills required for the workplace.

Jane Green, the school’s Business Partnership Co-coordinator said:

“Over the past five years we have made a sustained investment in developing young people’s employability, examining what works for each and every one of our students.

“We are proud of our commitment and felt it was important we judge ourselves against this national standard.”

The assessor praised the school on the range and scale of events which was “carefully thought out and integrated into the curriculum through imaginative and effective business relationships.”

The status is given by the Institute of Education and Business Excellence (IEBE).

Speaking about their success, headteacher Christopher Walshsaid: “I am extremely proud that we been successful in achieving this important accreditation.

“Being Business Ready means we can continue to maintain an excellent standard in how we prepare our students for the next stage of their education or training.”
