Boston Spa Beer Festival to make welcome return
AN AMBITIOUS target has been set by fundraisers for the second annual Boston Spa Beer Festival.
More than doubling last year's amount, organisers are hoping to achieve 10,000 to put towards a new classroom for St Mary's Primary School during the event on February 19 and 20.
The event itself has expanded significantly for its second year, with more than 40 varieties of Yorkshire beer as well as several ciders, perry and lager.
Last year, the doors had to close in the early evening as taps ran dry, so more than double the quantities of ale will be on offer this year.
In another new twist, a corporate event will precede the official opening of the festival at Boston Spa Village Hall.
Sponsored by the Black Sheep brewery, the event will offer corporate ticket holders the chance to enjoy the ales first - and learn something about brewing first hand from the Black Sheep's chief brewer.
Many supporters, including the event's principle sponsor Elmwood Design, and special guests are expected at the corporate opening, beginning at 4pm on Friday, February 19. Gold tickets for 10 people, costing 300, are available from John Fox by emailing john.fox@zodionltd.eu.com.
A ticket-only evening open to the public begins at 7pm at a cost of 5 per person. Tickets are available from Yeadon's in the High Street, or via the website, www.bostonspabeerfestival.co.uk.
Only a limited number of tickets are available for Friday's events, but from noon on Saturday the main event kicks off with hundreds of people expected to attend.
Tickets are 5 on the door - or 3 for those not drinking beer - which includes a festival pint pot and the first half-pint.
There will also be soft drinks, pies and peas and family entertainment throughout the day, including live music.
As well as supporting St Mary's School, the beer festival will again raise money for the village hall.
