Biker handicapped by theft

A PROFESSIONAL motorbike racer says his training has suffered after his £3,000 motorbike was stolen earlier this year.

Dan Linfoot, 23, who lives in Kirk Deighton, has now taken part in two rounds of British Superbike Championship, using a BMW S1000RR motorbike, since the opening at Brands Hatch on April 6.

But Dan, who lives with his parents Sandie and Craig Linfoot, had his 2009 Suzuki RMZ 450 bike stolen from the house in Kirk Deighton in March and although it was reported to the police, the bike has not been traced.

He said: “It is the inconvenience of not having the bike which has been the problem, other than the bike I use for racing.

“I have no bike to train on, which, when training, is specific to my sport.

“It hasn’t helped in terms of my specific training needs as apart from when I am racing, I don’t have access to any form of motorcycle.”

Dan who says he cannot afford to replace his motorbike, has been keen to keep up his fitness training regime by cycling five times a week, going to the gym and swimming.

He has also started taking part in cycling competitions as a way to increase his fitness.

The 23-year-old, who is sponsored by BMW, will compete in the British Superbike Round Three at Oulton Park on May 5.
