A BARDSEY fashion designer has hit the big time after her clothes were featured on a celebrity TV show.

Jennifer Levenston, a 22-year-old former Leeds College of Art student, has been making a name for herself after her clothes were worn by TV star Millie Mackintosh, of Made in Chelsea TV fame.

And now Jennifer, who set up fashion brand Prodiga two years ago in a studio in Hunslet, says she hopes to expand her range with Millie as the new face of the Prodiga brand.

The entrepreneur said: “I had always admired Millie, she is very down to earth. Her family are the Mackintosh chocolatiers, from Halifax.

“It’s been really great because, in my eyes, she is the perfect model.

“Even if she is in the reality star spectrum, she attracts a great response, and she and Caggie (Dunlop) have had the greatest fashion following.”

The impact of the star wearing the clothes on the E4 TV show have been huge, says Jennifer.

“She first started wearing a dress for New Year, when she tweeted a picture and the response was crazy.

“Within five minutes I had 800 extra Twitter followers.

“I had email after email from girls saying ‘I want to look like Millie Mackintosh’.

The pieces are a combination of ready-made and made-to-order, with the brand also specialising in bridal gowns.

There are two in-house seamstresses, as well as Jennifer and also two factories in India, where all the hand-beading work takes place.

Jennifer is now hoping to hold specialist dress making evenings to help inspire young people to enter the industry themselves.
