Organisers of one of the biggest glittering charity balls in the area are urging people not to miss out on the occasion.

Martin House Children’s Hospice will be hosting their second Masquerade Glitter Ball in the Pavillion at Harewood House on Saturday March 9 and tickets are still available.

“The Masquerade Ball will be a spectacular event and one of the highlights of our fundraising calendar,” said Alyson Wort, Fundraising Manager for the hospice.

“Tables are still available, why not get together with a group of friends and come along for a fantastic evening?

“Many local companies have taken a table which is great and we would like to thank everyone who has booked already for supporting the event.”

The event, which continues to be one of the biggest fundraisers of the year for the hospice, takes on a different theme every year and this year the masked look is proving to be popular added Alyson.

Martin House cares for children with life-limiting illnesses and their families across the Yorkshire region. Every year the hospice supports over 400 families and 150 bereaved families.

Parent Neil said: “Martin House has been a great support to us – emotionally and physically.

“I am blessed with Isabel. Sometimes she turns to me and holds out her arms for a cuddle, just like she used to do in the old days. It makes my heart somersault.

“Martin House is the only place that I will leave Isabel overnight or for a few days and I know she is in safe hands.”

But the Clifford-based hospice needs to raise £4.9 million every year and most of this has to be raised through fundraising events like the Glitter Ball.

A committee of local supporters work on the event together with Events Manager Caroline Hudson on developing the themes and ideas.

Caroline said: “We are delighted to launch the Masquerade theme this year which will really work well with the beautiful, romantic venue.

“The evening will begin with a Prosecco and Peroni drinks reception and will be followed by a three-course meal and fantastic raffle and auction.

“We have secured some great entertainment and we hope to kick start our events calendar with a very successful night.

“This will be our second year at Harewood House so we hope our guests will have a great night.”

Tickets are £85 per head and can be booked by calling Caroline Hudson on 01937 844569.
