Parents and their babies made a splash recently to raise money for Meningitis UK.
Flutterbabies Baby swimming group held the sponsored swim at Scholes Primary School where little ones practised their techniques on top and under the water.
Samantha Dalton, who runs the weekly classes, revealed why she chose the charity: “Meningitis UK is close to my heart as a relative’s daughter was taken from us three years ago now at only eight months old and if we can help save just one child it’s worth it.”
She added: “The swimming term had finished and I wanted to make sure that the babies had the chance to practice the new skills they had learnt over the past ten weeks as they haven’t got the brain network to retain these skills, so I thought a swim for charity would be a lovely opportunity to keep up this practice.”
Jenny, who went ,along with her son James said: “This was a fantastic opportunity to raise money for such a worthwhile cause and to also raise awareness of Meningitis symptoms.
“As a new mum you are always so worried when your baby is poorly and I can’t imagine what a parent goes through when their little one gets Meningitis.
“’ll certainly be keeping the symptoms card close by”.
Futterbabies is to resume its swimming sessions at Scholes this month.
