Award-winning garden to open gates for charity
WETHERBY couple Neville and Joyce Boocock will be showcasing their stunning award-winning garden once again this year in aid of West Oaks Special School in Boston Spa.
The retired couple have been preening and weeding in preparation for their open garden charity event which takes place on Sunday, July 5 from 11am until 4pm at 10 Ashfield, Wetherby.
Mr Boocock, who is president of Knaresborough Golf Club, said: “Last year we raised 620 and we’re hoping to raise a similar amount for the school again this year. I haven’t stopped preparing the garden these past few months. I worked at it right through the winter and I’ve put in over 700 plants this year.”
Refreshments will be provided including cream teas and cakes and admission is 2.50 with children free. There is also wheelchair access and all proceeds will go towards funding new equipment at the school.
Once again, the Boococks’ have entered their garden into the annual Leeds in Bloom awards which will be judged in July.
“We’ve won gold twice before and we hope to win gold again this year. It’s a tremendous awards ceremony at Leeds Town Hall,” said Mr Boocock.
