£6million care home to open in January 2013

CONSTRUCTION work is underway on the new £6million Hadrian Healthcare Group residential nursing home in Wetherby.

Completion of the building, at the former St James’ Street health centre site, is expected in January 2013.

Jas Gill, managing director of Hadrian Healthcare Group said: “The development will create 60 jobs and we will open for residents in January next year.

“There will be 59 bedrooms, including a specially designed suite for people with dementia, plus eight self-contained independent living suites for residents who need minimal care but benefit from living in a supported environment.

“We provide five star care and accommodation and we seek to enrich the lives of all our residents, encouraging them to continue being part of community life.“

The Wetherby home will have a library, garden, cinema, hair salon, ballroom, bistro, newspaper and sweet shop, residents’ bar and bowling green. There will also be on site parking.

Wetherby ward councillor John Procter said: “The Manor House Living development will provide residents with a wide range of facilities and services.

“They are also committed to using local suppliers.

“This is a much needed development in Wetherby, right in the centre of the town.”

The building, designed by ARP Design and built by contractor Walter Thompson, is the nine to be opened by Gateshead-based Hadrian Healthcare since 2008.
