WETHERBY’S MP Alec Shelbrooke took anchor for the House of Commons this week in a tug of war contest with members of the House of Lords.

In an annual charity event raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support, Mr Shelbrooke joined MPs and Peers outside Parliament. After a tough contest, the MPs returned victorious and the event raised £110,000 for the charity.

Mr Shelbrooke said: “It’s not every day you get to do something like this in Parliament and I’m delighted that we’ve raised so much money for a charity that helps so many people in my constituency.”
