A service of remembrance and thanksgiving to commemorate the Battle of Britain by the Royal Air Forces Association Tadcaster Registered Members Group took place at St Mary’s Church in Tadcaster last Sunday.

In attendance were the cadets and standard bearers from Church Fenton and those who had served their country proudly displaying their medals.

During the Service, Steve Helsdon, of Tadcaster RAFA RMG, dedicated a plaque to commemorate the closure of the Tadcaster branch earlier this year after 66 years.

The inscription reads: “Placed here by the members of the Royal Air Forces Association, Tadcaster Branch No. 735 to commemorate the Branch closure in January 2015 after 66 years of service within the local community.”
