Film crews have been at Harewood House in recent weeks to shoot a new three-part period drama to celebrate the 200th anniversary of Jane Austen’s novel, Pride And Prejudice.

The BBC will screen the mini-series Death Comes To Pemberley, which will star Matthew Rhys in the role of Fitzwilliam Darcy.

The adaptation, based on the novel by P D James which continues on from Pride and Prejudice, focuses on three of Austen’s biggest characters - Mr Darcy, Elizabeth Bennet and George Wickham.

It will include South Riding star Anna Maxwell Martin and Birdsong actor Matthew Goode.

The story is a murder mystery sequel to Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice, with the scene set six years into the marriage of Elizabeth and Mr Darcy.

The crews have filmed scenes in York, Castle Howard, Harewood House and Chatsworth House, and the drama will air later this year.
