Travellers ordered to leave Wetherby car park

Travellers who had set up an unauthorised encampment at the Wilderness Car Park, Wetherby Town Centre have been given direction to leave in support of Leeds City Council, who manage the car park.

There were approximately 12 caravans and the same number of motor vehicles, which began arriving on the evening of Tuesday, June 2.

A West Yorkshire Police statement read: “There was some disruption to members of the public but the area was vacated by 8.15am this morning (Thursday) and the Local Authority are attending to tidy up the site, which remains open to the public.”
