A top competition is heading to Wetherby for the first time.

Brass Factor founder Alex Bray will bring the competition, which spotlights talented young musicians, to the Engine Shed on November 1.

Founder Alex Bray said: “I’m delighted to be able to present Brass Factor to Wetherby.

“Having researched many areas for a new venue the Engine Shed and surrounding areas fit perfectly with what Brass Factor is all about.

“A particular love of mine is the band stand in Wetherby, a place that really brings the community together to enjoy different varieties of music.

“The community spirit in Wetherby as well as the strong heritage of supporting brass bands meant that bringing Brass Factor here was a very simple decision.”

In previous years it has played at Holmfirth and Harrogate but has moved to Wetherby for a bigger venue.

Six youth brass bands will battle it out playing a 20-minute set in front of a star-studded panel of celebrity judges including BBC Brass programme host, David Hoyle.

Tickets, £10, from http://brassfactor.com/tickets.html.
