Bikeability Scheme: cycle training in Tockwith took place over four evenings in May and June. It was an eight hour course run through British Cycling who are funded through Sport England to get more people on bikes. The course delivered the Government backed Bikeability scheme levels 1 and 2 covering skills needed to cycle on todays roads. If you did Cycling Proficiency when you were at school, the training has moved on a lot since then. New advice on positioning now takes into account how much busier our roads are. There’s never been a better time to get on a bike. If you would like to do any Bikeability Training (done in groups of four - six) contact Caroline Alliott on email firstname.lastname@example.org or tel 01423 358291.
Sportsfield Trust: at our AGM in December a new committee for the Sportsfield Trust was elected – a mix of long standing servants of the trust and new members, with all user groups represented. This committee has since been meeting monthly with all user groups having an opportunity to contribute and raise points for discussion. The committee deals with all matters relating to the grounds and building. Following a survey of repairs and renewals needed in the sportsfield building a sub-committee has been formed to assess the current refurbishment needs. The committee is now looking into grants to fund the refurbishment. If successful we are hoping to make some changes internally, starting with the kitchen, and would like to appeal to our community for offers of help from plumbers, joiners, electricians – anyone who feels they could help us out. If you think you can help contact Mike (email@example.com) or call on 01423 359254.
