Developers have now been given the go ahead to build 80 ‘high quality’ houses in the village of Tockwith.
Evans Property Group has received planning permission from Harrogate Borough Council (HBC) for the creation of up to 80 new homes in the village of Tockwith, North Yorkshire. Formerly part of Tockwith Airfield, the redundant 9.6 site is accessed off Southfield Lane towards the south western edge of the village. Alan Syers, Portfolio Director at Evans Property Group, said; “We are delighted to have been given the green light to transform this strategic site into a high quality housing development to help meet local needs and support the viability and vitality of Tockwith village. “The plans evolved through engagement with local stakeholders, officers at the Council and local residents resulting in a scheme which adopts good design principles and responds positively to local characteristics. We are looking forward to implementing our proposed scheme in due course.” The development is said to provide a broad mix of property types for the area, which was identified in the Council’s Core Strategy as a sustainable location suitable for additional housing.
Evans Property Group has also said some 120 new jobs could be created at the construction peak of the development, which will provide pedestrian links to the centre of Tockwith. A dedicated offsite parking area on the southern side of Southfield Lane has also been added to the proposals after the local consultation raised concerns over uncontrolled parking around Tockwith CE Primary School.
