Thorner residents are set to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee with a host of events this summer.
The village’s own celebrations ideas are still in the planning but include a fireworks display, vintage vehicle rally and sports event.
Thorner Diamond Jubilee coordinator David Fryer said they had been working on the event for a year.
“About 25 people came together for our first meeting from lots of the groups in the village and the school.
“There is a lot of support for the Queen and the Royal family.”
Mr Fryer added: “The steering group is still formulating plans.
“But Thorner is going to be doing something that will be a fitting event to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.”
The celebrations will include a beacon lighting from St Peter’s church tower on June 4 at 10pm.
