OVER 750 drinkers joined in the fun at the eighth annual Thorner Beer Festival in the Victory Hall last Saturday.

Extra marquees were erected owing to the bleak forecast and 40 firkins were ordered, four more extra on the previous year.

Locally sourced ales on draught were added to by a variety of kegs from as far afield as Stirling and Somerset.

Entertainment was provided by the ever popular Leeds Morris Men, calypso style steel drum band IC Steel, Sounds Like Us who sang a medley of classics and the Rough n Ready Boyz who provided an energetic finish with their rock/blues/bluegrass style.

The event was organised by Peter Schofield, head of the beer festival committee, and the rest of the team and volunteers who worked hard to put on the enjoyable occasion.

New members to the committee are always welcome if you wish to join in organising next year’s event.
