Stutton Council: there is to be a meeting of Stutton cum Hazlewood Parish Council tonight, Thursday, September 13 starting at 7.30pm in Stutton Village Hall. Members of the public are most welcome to attend the meeting, whose agenda is usually displayed on the notice board outside the hall.
Visiting Bellringers: the bells of St Mary’s Church will be sounding out on Friday at around 10 30am when a visiting group of bellringers from Essex will be in the church tower ringing room.
Diamond Recital: St Mary’s Church organist will be presenting a recital comprising of a miscellany of Royal music played on the unique Binns organ in church on Saturday, September 15 starting at 7.30pm.
Bungee Jump: on Saturday, September 15 outside the Jackdaw on Stutton Road there is to be a bungee jump from noon until 2pm. Details and sponsor forms are available from the public house.
Dancetime: Neil and Betty Roberts will again be hosting another Dancetime in the Riley Smith hall on Sunday, September 16 from 8-11pm. Dancing includes ballroom, sequence, jive and Latin American. Admission is £5 payable on the door which will be open from 7.30pm.
Battle of Britain: this Sunday, September 16, is Battle of Britain Sunday and in St Mary’s Church there will be morning prayer at 10 30am and evensong with Holy Communion at 6pm. Holy Communion at St Andrew’s Church in Newton Kyme starts at 9.15am and at 10am in Church Fenton.
Full Council: there is to be a full meeting of Tadcaster Town Council on Tuesday, September 18 starting at 7.30pm in the Ark Council Chamber. Members of the public are welcome to attend to listen to the proceedings of the meeting but may be asked to leave towards the end should there be matters of a confidential nature under discussion. The agenda for the meeting is usually displayed on the notice boards outside the Ark. On Stutton Road near the Jackdaw or on Commercial street near to Costcutter.
Communion Resumes: after a few months break the monthly service of Holy Communion will resume in Calcaria House off Woodlands Avenue on Tuesday, September 18 at 9.30am and will continue to be held on the third Tuesday of each month.
Rainbow Through Rain: on the third Wednesday of each month in the Boys’ Sunday School, the Rainbow Through Rain drop-in afternoon takes place between 2 and 3.30pm to give hope to those affected by bereavement. For more information phone 01937 530735.
Wednesday Group: on the first and third Wednesday of each month the Wednesday Group of Tadcaster Methodist Church meet in the chapel’s coffee lounge and this Wednesday, September 19, licencing officer Tim Grogan will be talking to the group.
Kelcbar Week: this evening Thursday, September 13 there will be a meeting of Gateway in the centre starting at 7.30pm. On Friday Chatterbox (funny stories) starts at 2pm. On Monday there will be an afternoon with Marilynne which begins at 2pm and hopefully the weather will be fair on Tuesday, September 18 for that is when the centre’s Fair Weather Walking group meet at 10.30am ready for their short easy walk. Also on Tuesday there will be part 2 of the Alpha course which starts at 6.30pm. The Regular Wednesday Bingo and hairdresser is at 7.30pm and next Thursday, September 20, Ladies that Lunch meet at Kelcbar at 1pm.
Evening Classes: adult evening classes start this week beginning September 17 at Tadcaster Gramar School. There are courses in ceramics, international cookery, British sign language, flower arranging, pottery, Chinese medicine, Greek, pilates, sugarcraft, art, French, digital photography, local history, Spanish, yoga and even belly dancing. Duck Race: Tadcaster’s annual Duck Race and Family Fun Day takes place on Saturday, September 29 between noon and 4pm with the ducks being launched from the top of the viaduct at 2pm. Wiggle n Giggle: dance exercise classes resume at The Boys’ Sunday School on Tuesday, September 18, time 10-11am.
