All Saints Church, Spofforth: the service on Sunday, October 13 will be morning prayer at 10.30am.

Household waste: collection at Spofforth will be on Tuesday, October 15.

Spofforth Seniors: coffee morning will be on Tuesday, October 15 from 10-11.30pm at The Long Memorial Hall.

Handel’s Messiah: come and sing Handel’s Messiah. Bookings now open for the 10th Nidderdale Messiah event, to be held on Sunday, November 24 at 1pm in the Holy Trinity Church, Knaresborough. Booking is essential for singers and audience. The event will raise funds for Yorkshire Air Ambulance. For a booking form contact www.nidderdalemessiah.org.uk or 01423 206535.

Spofforth Women’s Institute: will meet on Tuesday, October 15 at 7.30pm in The Long Memorial Hall. The talk, by Ann Ashton will be entitled A History of the English Garden. The competition item will be a piece of floral jewellery.

Spofforth with Stockeld Parish Council: will meet on Tuesday, October 15 at 7.30pm in The Long Memorial Hall.

Martin Fish: the evening, which was enjoyed by all who attended, raised over £150 for Spofforth in Bloom funds.

Spofforth Cine: will present the toe tapping Mama Mia on Sunday, October 20. Tickets in advance from June Geddes 01937 590695, Christine Atkinson 01937 591424and Jane Hare 01937 590393), G&M News and the Hairbelle or pay on the door on the night. There will be bar facilities, coffee & tea, refreshments, popcorn and ice creams. The perfect way to spend a Sunday evening (my advice is to get your tickets for your chosen programmes early as the hall capacity is limited and this venture is already being talked about around the village).

International quiz night: with pie and peas supper on Friday, October 18 in the Long Memorial Hall. It will be the usual team event and tickets will be £10 per person available from G & M news; the Hairbelle or June Geddes on 01937 590695.
