Spofforth Seniors: coffee morning will be on Tuesday, April 16, 10-11.30am in The Long Memorial Hall. New members are welcome to air any concerns or just catch up on village gossip. Spofforth in Bloom: spring judging for Yorkshire in Bloom has been cancelled throughout Yorkshire this year on account of the fact that there has not been enough spring available.
Quiz and Chips: Spofforth in Bloom are repeating their highly successful (and rowdy) quiz on Friday, April 19 at 7.30pm at The Long Memorial Hall. Teams of up to six are preferred but individuals could possibly be added to short teams. £10 per person will include a fish and chip supper. Advanced Notice: that the Acorn Spring shopping fair will be held at the Old Rectory, Church Lane, Spofforth on Saturday, April 20 from noon-4pm. There will be over 20 stalls, including paintings; clothing; accessories; jewellery; home wares; plants and garden wirework; home baking and head and hand massages. Entrance is £3 which will include tea or coffee and home baked goodies. The Acorn committee raises funds for people with dementia and their carers and for research into scleroderma disease at Leeds General Infirmary.
The Annual Parochial Church Meeting: and annual vestry meeting will take place on Monday, April 15 at 7.30pm at All Saints Church, Kirk Deighton. Members of Spofforth Church are asked to make every effort to attend this important meeting which covers the election of wardens and deputy wardens to serve the churches within the parish; the election of representatives to serve on the parochial church council; the appointment of the sidesmen and independent examiner or auditor; Changes in the electoral roll since the last APCM; a report of the activities of the PCC and the life of the parish generally; receipt of the examined financial reports for the individual churches and the parish for the year ending December 31 2012; receipt of reports on the fabric, goods and ornaments of the church buildings and reports on the proceedings of the deanery synod and other matters of parochial or general church interest. Tea and biscuits will be available at the end of the meeting.
