Sir Thomas Ingilby has become the first person to sign up for the 26-mile Marathon walk being introduced at Harrogate Rotary Club’s Nidderdale Charity Walk on May 18.
Sir Thomas raised over £500 for his charity, Myeloma UK, last year by participating in the 22 mile walk.
This year his chosen charity is again Myeloma UK.
A spokesperson for the club said: “The response so far has been very positive for the new distance, to be organised in conjunction with the current 22 mile, 15 mile, 7 mile, 4 mile and 4 mile special needs walks.
“The special needs walk is also suitable for prams and pushchairs.”
