St Peter’s Church: for Lent this year, discussion groups will be focusing on the Bible and asking the question, “What does it mean for me?” The aim is to look for answers through services and Lent discussion groups. As in previous years there is the opportunity to join in a Lent lunch of bread and soup with a discussion to follow. The first Lent meeting will be held in Sicklinghall village hall on Wednesday, March 16 at 1pm. The second Lent lunch will be held in St Barnabas Church, Weeton, on March 24 at 1pm. The third Lent lunch will be held on Wednesday, March 30 at 1pm and the fourth meeting will be at St Barnabas, Weeton on Thursday, April 14 at 1pm. If a daytime meeting is not convenient for you, there is also a Lent discussion group meeting in Pool at 7.30pm on Tuesday, March 15, March 22, March 29 and April 12.
Sicklinghall Book Club: the book chosen for discussion this month is “Room” by Emma Donoghue. This book was shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize 2010 and promises to provoke a good discussion. If you would like to come and join in, the group will be meeting on Tuesday, March 15 at 8.30pm in the Scott’s Arms.
